Peterhead Methodist Church
Are you going to Heaven?
Christianity is truly simple and the message is easy to understand. In fact, it's so simple, small children can grasp it, often quicker than most adults, who tend to over-complicate things. For example, we are going to refer to sin a lot as it's a convenient word to use, being short, but if you have a problem with that, just think of sin as something you have done which you should not have done, or something you failed to do which you should have.
We would like to share with you how you, too, can become a Christian and be assured of going to heaven. God loves you enough that He gave His Son as a sacrifice for your sins. By taking man's blame on Himself, Jesus made it possible for you and me to come to God in faith, not fear. No matter what you may have done in your life, God is a forgiving and loving God who wants to have a personal relationship with you.
We are born separated from God because of sin. When you believe in Jesus Christ and the fact that He took on Himself the sins of the world, you only need to ask for forgiveness, turn away from sin, and He will forgive you, enter your heart and grant the gift of eternal life in heaven with God the Father.
Some people were gathered for an event in Jerusalem shortly after Christ had been killed on the cross, had come back to life and returned to heaven. Peter and the other followers of Jesus were there also. Some things happened, things that the people around could not deny was of God's doing because it made them believe the message of the gospel. They spoke up and asked Peter and the other followers of Christ, "What must we do to be saved?"
Peter, the Apostle, responded with this answer, "Turn away from sin, and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Do you believe these words from the Bible are God's promises to you? Would you like to accept Christ Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and receive forgiveness and the gift of eternal life in heaven? If so, you can pray the following prayer, trusting in your heart the willingness and power of Jesus to save you. He wants to, enough to sufferand give His own life on the cross to get the job done. Just read this prayer aloud, and believe with your heart.

If you have just prayed this prayer, meaning it sincerely, then God has saved you from your sins (see Romans 10:9), and He has made you a new person in Christ. (see 2 Corinthians 5:17)
