Peterhead Methodist Church
Sunday Worship Services

All the family are welcome to join us for services. Our worship is varied and we try to keep a balance between the traditional and more recent influences.  Our music too includes well-known hymns as well as some of the best contemporary songs and choruses. Whatever your preferences you can be sure that we try hard to ensure that everybody finds our services helpful in teaching the Christian faith.

The following is a guide to what takes place as a normal pattern, together with a list of services for the current quarter. If you would like to have more details of our services, or information about the services of the other churches in our Circuit, then you may obtain a copy of the Circuit Plan from the foyer.

11.00am - Morning Worship

This is an easy-to-follow modern pattern service lasting around an hour. We seek to combine the best of favourite traditional hymns and modern worship music to provide something for all tastes. In addition to our own Minister worship is often led by the other Ministers in the Circuit, and our Local Preachers. Tea is also served in the Main Hall after the service.

Holy Communion

Usually we celebrate Holy Communion at one service a month. Over the quarter two Communion services will be in the morning and one in the evening. During these services the children will be cared for in the back hall if necessary; it is up to parents whether their child attends communion or not. Those children attending will be given a blessing or alternatively, at parents' discretion, may receive the bread and/or wine. We invite all those who love the Lord Jesus Christ to share in the breaking of bread at the Lord's Table.

6.00pm - Evening Worship

If you miss our 11.00am service you can catch the evening service at 6.00pm! This may include a time of sharing of testimonies, and perhaps a time of open prayer. On the occasions that our Minister leads worship the hymns will be from Mission Praise and the sermon will be an expository one - at the moment we are going through Revelation. Tea is also served in the Lesser Hall every Sunday evening after the service and this is a good time for fellowship.

10.00am and 8.00pm - Prayer Times

A time of prayer, fellowship and ministry and all are welcome. There is no formal structure but, if you need prayer for healing or for any other event/trauma in your life, those needs are specifically catered for.

What about children?

We welcome parents and want to include all of your family in the life of the Church. Peterhead Methodist is very definitely a Church for all ages. We all want the very best for our children; it is important to us that they have the opportunity to grow, develop and achieve their full potential.

The most important thing you can give to your child is the opportunity to learn about God and His love for them. In the early years of childrens' lives they needs this grounding of faith which will be vital for them if they are to develop into happy and balanced adults. We will work in partnership with parents to do our best to enable children to be welcomed into the family of the Church. Those adults who work with the children are approved by the Church leadership and are drawn from the membership of the Church.

On Sunday mornings children will be in church for the first twenty minutes or so before leaving for their own meeting after the second hymn, although for the younger ones a crèche is available. Over a six-weeks cycle there is one special Family Service when the children remain in the Church throughout. We try to include the children in Family Services as much as we can and make them feel very welcome. This is also an occasion to welcome children brought for baptism.
