Peterhead Methodist Church
The North East Scotland Methodist Mission Society
Peterhead Methodist Church is part of a group of eight Methodist churches who come together from time to time to share their experiences, their joys and their learning experiences in reaching out to the non-Christian groups in the area. We included pages on each of our partner churches for your information and to ask for your prayer support for each one.
Our Official Methodist Church Mission Circuit Policy Statement
- To maintain and, if possible, increase the present growth rate by appropriate means of evangelism.
- To maintain the existing number and location of staff, the Circuit's vast extent ruling out any reduction for the foreseeable future.
- For the time being, to have the Cullen section regarded as a 'priority appointment' and Buckie as a 'probationer appointment', with the superintendency in Aberdeen; this policy not ruling out realignments of sections where desirable, nor the attempt to have one of the other two stations regarded as a priority appointment also, should circumstances dictate it.
- To adopt an encouraging and supportive approach to the smaller causes, without of course neglecting the work in the larger churches.
- For an experimental period, to employ a part-time lay-worker to build up the work in Banff and Whitehills, with the possibility of extending that period if appropriate.
- Actively to encourage our churches to worship and work together, sharing personnel and resources.
- As one of the participant churches in SCIFU, to play an ecumenical bridge-building role in the various communities we serve.
These next few years should be a time of excitement for the methodist Church in North east scotland and in particular for the seven churches
